Whew! So when I have a vacation, I apparently really like to take advantage of it! Last week, for example, I spent 5 consecutive nights in 5 different cities. And in that time, I:

-played with 7 dogs and 1 cat
-wore my bathing suit 40% of the time
-took only 3 showers
-hung out with lots of great people (despite having only 3 showers!)
-worked on my athletic skills with 5 different "sports"
-swam in 4 bodies of water
-learned a new home improvement skill
-drove approximately 1000 miles
and…
-didn't sleep that much! :)

Here's the rundown, my friends...

Monday Night: East Lansing

Meet the newest member of the Davenport family, Moonpie!

Purpose: To spend some time with my good friends Dan and Colleen, their new puppy and extended family, and (surprisingly!) my friend Tim
Activities: Swimming, volleyball, horseshoes, cherry-pit-spitting, barbequing, chatting
Fun Fact: My cherry-pit-spitting skills HAVE indeed improved over the past 2 years. I can now clear a good 6 feet. At this rate… man, the sky's the limit… :)

Tuesday Night: Davisburg

My red-white-and-blue uncle enjoying a drink by the lake.

Purpose: To spend the 4th of July with my extended family and family friends
Activities: Water-balloon fighting, volleyball, floating, hammocking, eating, fireworksing
Fun Fact: I got PELTED with a water-balloon so hard that it took my breath away and left me with a welt! Way to go, you vicious children!

Wednesday Night: Bloomfield Hills

Flattering? No. But, necessary? Yes! (I think I like the socks and flip-flops best!)

Purpose: To surprise my mom by doing a closet-improvement project in her condo while she was in Maine on vacation
Activities: Ripping out the old front-closet shelf and annoying metal hook-thingy and replacing it with two new shelves and a real closet rod (with Kevin's generous help!), mopping the floor, addressing family reunion invites with my aunt and cousin
Fun Fact: It doesn't matter what they say, hammering is LOUD! We never use nails in theater :)

Thursday Night: Ann Arbor

Who says cats aren't smart? :)

Purpose: To unpack, go to work, and repack :)
Activities: Come to think of it, I don't really remember! What a blur. But I am sure it involved working my one remaining job, sitting in the LaZboy, and preventing Zooey from figuring out how to escape
Fun Fact: My bed is soooo comfy!

Friday Night: Traverse City

Nothing makes me happier than dual-juggling bocce balls. :)

Purpose: To visit Demoree's hometown with my roommates and friend Mike
Activities: Oh, man, where do I start? Bocce-ball, juggling, Family Feud, Cherry Festival (good thing I practiced my pit-spitting earlier in the week!), bingo, Polka Festival, bonfiring, making s'mores, swimming...
Fun Fact: Polka dancing is fun AND easy- those Poles really know how to throw a party! Oh, and I am not in good enough shape to dance more than one song at a time :)

You know how people say "I need a vacation from my vacation"? I would say that, but I am not sure I have enough clean clothes left to pack again. ;) Good lesson for next time: I should definitely TAKE vacations... but for goodness' sake, I should spread them out!
