Spring Cheer
03-01-06

If you are like me lately, then you're finding that winter has been lasting about 4 months too long already, and you're mourning the lack of a spring break vacation someplace warm. So, I thought today I’d help out by posting some glimpses of spring for us to experience. Oh, and if you're not like me (I mean, few are!), then, well... there'll be random stories on here again soon!

My apartment has been full of flowers recently because Karen just starred in a play that pretty much everyone went to and showered her with prettiness at (oh, and I got a little prettiness, too!). Since Karen is on vacation and therefore Zooey is visiting her grandparents, Demoree and I actually got a chance to display all of the surviving flowers (instead of putting them only in cat-proof areas, like piled on top of fridge), and you know what? Flowers are beautiful. No wonder bees like them! Of course I have always known that I like flowers, but after SO much winter and working in windowless wood shops, brightly-colored-living-things come as such a sweet surprise! It's been so long since I've seen color!

Here are some flowers I took pictures of this morning. I don't know why, but I always feel like a photographer/artist taking still-life photos of flowers. Now, real photographers and artists may disagree, but it's my page and I've been alone in my apartment a lot and I am allowed to be as delusional as I want!

These flowers weren't actually from Fiddler, they were from Valentine's Day, believe it or not (talk about lasting forever— yowza!), and they all originate from a gorgeous bouquet that our (collective) friend Ben gave our apartment because he's just that nice of a guy.

Spring Break— whoo-hoo!
.

pretty pretty.

what? it's a subliminal message!

.

Sometimes it's good to take a break and smell— er, look at— the flowers. That's what a vacation is supposed to be all about, right? (I meant the metaphor, of course.)

Hope you are all surviving the winter (or "winter" as I should call it for some of you!). Anyone want to go on a vacation with me?? :)
